HOWDY! We'd like to introduce ourselves to you: we're Trixie, Dustin, Dan and Jolene.

TRIXIE is a high-kickin' country music maverick born with a hawk-eye for facilitating meaningful and melodic connections. Behind the scenes, she's an experienced end-to-end project manager and entrepreneur skilled in web development, marketing, design, accounting, booking, grant-writing & beyond. She's filled to the brim with innovative organization and activation. She's known for her ability to pull together the stuff of dreams in order to orchestrate lasting memories. She's also raising the next generation of Flying U cowboys with her life, song and ranching partner Dustin Bentall.

As a musician, leatherworker and handyman who's guided packhorse trips across pristine mountain ranges, DUSTIN BENTALL (yes, son of legendary rocker Barney Bentall!) has been called a rustic troubadour, a counter-culture cowboy, and a purveyor in the finest of cosmic Canadiana. Back at the ranch, he spends his days attending to any and all building operations, often with his 2 trusty cowpokes Bucky and Cas in tow. Whether it's a fence that needs mending, a tree that needs falling, or a song that needs writing, Dustin knows how to get the job done!

Mention the Fremlin name to any Flying U long-timer, & they'll be sure to tell you a spirited story about the way things used to be: many a generation of guests began their traditions between 1980 - 2015, when DAN FREMLIN's family operated the ranch. Dan has been back in the saddle as the ranch's "unknown cowboy" since 2021, shoeing the herd, lending his diverse expertise to the ranch as necessary and reviving the tradition of rancher by day, musician by night. With his wife Jolene, he's passing on a lifetime of tradition to his 3 sons. 

JOLENE FREMLIN is a seasoned cowboss with a no-nonsense approach and a rooted maternal insight. Her horse-sense, back-bone and know-how keep any herd (both equine and human) in topnotch form. She's a well-spring of best practices for compliance with pertinent departments, ministries and agencies, and her knack for applying that knowledge informs her endeavours in agricultural grant-writing and event organizing. A pillar in our community and a familiar face around The Flying U, she and her husband Dan Fremlin homestead at The Meadows neighbouring The Flying U, where they raise cattle with their 3 young ropin' ridin' rascals.
